Announcing the GCP Organization Policy Notifier

Announcing the GCP Organization Policy Notifier

Published: August 6, 2020

We are proud to announce and release the GCP Organization Policy Notifier along with a Twitter handle to track updates, @gcporgpolicybot. This is a 100% serverless tool that monitors GCP Organization Policies for updates and then posts to a Slack channel as well as Twitter. It is critical to be alerted when new features are released and available for deployment so we hope this is something you will find useful.

You can find a link to the GitHub repo here and we welcome any feedback!

What are Organization Policies?

In GCP, Organization Policies are restrictions or constraints you can apply on the Organization, folder, or project node of your Resource Hierarchy. These constraints are flexible enough to support lists for fine-grained configurations or boolean switches like Enabled or Disabled. Organization Policies are hierarchical in nature but also support the ability to break hierarchy on a case by case basis. This functionality allows Organization Policies to be applied only where necessary to avoid interruptions or downtime.

For a full list of the available Organization Policies, view this link.

ScaleSec runs and maintains the Organization Policy Notifier in our own environment so you don’t need to. If you are interested in staying up to date on when new policies are released - give our Twitter handle a follow! Our solution also supports Slack integration if you want to alert in your own slack channel, but you will need to deploy and manage it yourselves.
